Postnatal Support Services
The transition to life at home with a baby is huge, especially if a woman has enjoyed a busy career life, with schedules and deadlines and measurable outcomes!
The first few months are a period of massive adjustment. Caring for a newborn baby is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week job and no matter how prepared you think you may be, it is often a whirlwind of sleepless nights and a feeling of being at times overwhelmed.
In Auckland, we have often migrated here for work away from our family support and at times, a mother can feel quite isolated.
Nurtureme is now offering a postnatal support service, where Emma Mclean can come to your house and assess your needs on the day. You may need advice on settling and soothing of your baby, or perhaps you are really after a much-needed rest? Emma could facilitate this by looking after your baby while you take a power nap or if you would prefer, take the baby out for a walk in the buggy so you can enjoy total peace and quiet.
Perhaps your neck and shoulders are causing you pain as you adjust to feeding, and need a good massage? With Emma's extensive massage experience, this could easily be resolved.
Emma is a mother of two teenage boys and has 18 years of experience working with mother's postnatally through massage and counselling and has also a lot of knowledge of managing postnatal depression.
Through practical advice, understanding of the supportive services and a knowledgeable ear, Emma will help you make sense of this new role of motherhood.
